2006 Global Kids: Explore Latin America
HIGHLIGHTS:

- The campers wrote “La Huelga” and performed it in Artown on the Friday following the camp
- Campers learned about different parts of Latin American and created the backdrop to the play
2006 Global Kids was our first cultural summer camp, focusing on ancient and present-day Latin America through its geography, history, culture and Spanish language through dynamic, hands-on activities. In addition to a week-long, intensive basic Spanish course, the campers participated in different activities including cooking, arts and crafts, sports, mural painting, ancient games and theater to celebrate the various Latin American cultures and the accomplishments of great Latino people, both in Latin America as well as in the United States.
All campers spent their mornings learning about Spanish language, culture, arts and crafts and geography. Campers decided at the beginning of the week what their week-long afternoon activity focus would be selecting from the categories of Movement, Painting or Theater. From those options, Global Kids campers wrote, performed and built the set for two short plays which were performed at Art Town, Reno’s summer art festival.
