Do you consider global education and international opportunities for children, high school and university students critical to preparing the next generation of business and government leaders as global citizens?
Do you think there is value in providing home hosting opportunities and face-to-face contact with international visitors so Nevadans of all ages can better understand the world around them, steering away from stereotypes and fears?
Have you thought about what our local court, school and social service systems would look like if interpreters in Cantonese, Vietnamese and Korean were no longer available to bridge the language gap?
NNIC has been addressing these important issues since 1980 when a group of local visionaries established what they then called the International Visitors Council of Northern Nevada. NNIC now serves hundreds of visitors each year, provides educational opportunities for local middle and high school students and offers interesting discussions on global issues on a monthly basis to the community at large, often at no charge.
