The Global Gala is the International Center’s main and only annual fundraiser and is typically held in March or April.
Each year, the International Center seeks nominations for three international awards: the International Visionary Award, the International Volunteer Award, and the Global Citizen Award.
The 2007 recipient of the International Visionary Award is Gayle Anderson, Chief of Diplomatic Relations and Protocol at the Nevada Commission on Economic Development.
In 1998, Gayle was named the founder of Nevada Consular Corps Board, and she has held a prominent position in the organization for the past nine years.
The 2007 recipients of the Global Citizen Award are Shaun Griffin and Deborah Loesch-Griffin. In 1991, Shaun Griffin and Deborah Loesch-Griffin founded Community Chest, Inc., a program involved in community and youth development.
Their organization has grown to include twenty full and part-time employees, over thirty programs, and a budget of $1,450,000.
The 2007 recipient of the International Volunteer Award is Mei H. Herbert, advisor to the Overseas Affairs Commission for the Republic of China, Taiwan. She became interested in politics at an early age through the influence of her grandfather, who worked within the Taiwanese government.
She strongly believes in sharing with people, and the idea that one satisfies oneself by helping others.
