The Northern Nevada International Center will be hosting a delegation of nine Iraqis in February. The delegates serve on Provincial Councils and hold such positions as Cheif of Staff in a Governor’s Offices and as Presidents and Chairs of Political Parties. This delegation will arrive in Reno on February 2, 2012 and will depart on February 7, 2012. The delegation was invited to Reno as part of the International Visitors Leadership Program of the US Department of State.
The Reno portion of their program will be focused upon:
- The 2012 Republican Primary to examine leadership strategies and skills used to manage political challenges while balancing divergent social demands and interests
- To explore the role of public-private partnerships in fostering political and civic engagement
- To illustrate the democratic process within a decentralized U.S. political system
- To identify the importance of community service and volunteerism in America
