According to the closing report by the English Language Officer, Alyce Hill, they noted how warm and friendly the Americans were during their visit, and found their American counterparts to be very open and supportive. The group especially expressed their appreciation to Judge Linda Gardner of Reno’s Family Court for her time and discussed the possibility of creating a similar system in Slovenia.
“It was interesting to observe the Slovenian and American judges together. There was always a virtual embrace from the Americans and much information sharing. The Americans were curious about Slovenian courts in general and family court systems in particular. They treated the Slovenians with collegial respect and demonstrated that they had done their homework and researched the country. The visitors talked about how they had not expected such a warm and inclusive reception.” – Alyce Hill, ELO, US State Department.
