The Northern Nevada International Center will be hosting a delegation of 8 political leaders and interpreters from India, Pakistan and Nepal on March 6 to March 11, 2010. The delegation was invited to Reno as part of the International Visitors Leadership Program of the US Department of State.

The group is visiting Reno to get an overview of constitutional and other legal safeguards that grant and protect the rights of women and minorities in the U.S.; gain perspective on the historical issues, challenges and achievements that have defined the women’s movement in the US. over the past two centuries; discuss women’s access to and participation in the political decision-making process at federal, state, city, and community levels; examine the variety and scope of American women’s involvement in business, law, political parties, unions, education, health care, self-help programs, and volunteerism; and to examine the role of schools, universities, media, businesses, the courts and women’s groups in shaping social values, attitudes and behavior toward women and minorities.
