WTO Information Officer Met With Local Clean-Tech Companies

On July 31st, the World Trade Organization Press and Information Officer, Anoush Der Boghossian, held a roundtable meeting with local leaders and representatives from the rapidly emerging cleantech industry.

They provided first-hand perspective to Ms. Boghossian about how their industry came to be and where it is heading in the future. They discussed such things as obstacles they have faced, how to overcome those obstacles, how financing has affected their companies, international markets and competition, etc. This discussion will help Ms. Boghossian to write an ongoing story on the United States’ goals and interests in the clean technology market, and represent the American point of view to the French language press.

Local company leaders attended the roundtable discussion. They are:

  • Mike Hess, CEO of Mariah Power, which is a company that provides low-cost, highly aesthetic, noise-free wind power appliances for use with commercial, residential and government buildings;
  • Terry Copeland, President and CEO of Altairnano, a leading provider of energy storage system for clean, efficient power and energy management; and
  • Seth Wiggins, Co-Founder of SolNV, a local owned and operated solar development firm.
