Delegate from Italy to Study the USA Judicial System

A delegate from Italy will be visiting Reno/Tahoe area July 22-25, 2009 to study the USA Judicial System.  Professional program will include meetings with local and state judges and organizations.

The Reno portion of their program will be focused upon:

  • To examine the U.S. criminal justice system as a whole at the federal, state and local levels;
  • To examine the various roles of professionals in the criminal justice system, including judges, court managers, law clerks, and attorneys;
  • To explore the role of the key players involved in IPR enforcement, including legislators, judges, prosecutors, law enforcement officers, and business and industry representatives;
  • To look at the U.S. penal system, including sentencing guidelines and alternative sentencing;
  • To explore continuing education and training for sitting judges and other legal professionals, particularly in the field of IPR and technology; and
  • To review investigative techniques, technological tools for prosecuting IPR crimes, particularly related to organized crime, and techniques to fight terrorism.
