The 4th annual International Women’s Day Scholarship Fundraiser Luncheon is Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 12 noon to 2:30pm at the Siena Hotel Spa Casino to benefit women college students in Northern Nevada. Cost is $35 for the catered lunch event and $45 after February 26. All proceeds go to women’s scholarships at UNR, TMCC, Western Nevada College and Great Basin College as designated by attendees.
The Northern Nevada International Center and the U.S. Department of State are bringing a delegation of international women to Reno to be the program guests at the event. One of these international visitors will be at each table during the luncheon to share information about her country and her work. It is a rare opportunity for Northern Nevadans to become citizen diplomats for an afternoon and practice some hands-on international relations.
Organizations currently participating in the event to date are: AAUW Nevada, Delta Kappa Gamma-Lambda Chapter, Nevada Women’s History Project, Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada, Soroptimist International of Truckee Meadows, Soroptimist International of Washoe County, Zonta Club of Greater Reno, UNR Gender, Race & Identity / Women’s Studies Programs, UNR Committee on the Status of Women, UNR Women Without Borders, Truckee Meadows Community College, Western Nevada College, and Great Basin College.
